Jones Point Park in Alexandria, VA provides plenty of space to set up cones for some skate skills and slalom practice. We generally enjoy skating this venue weekends during the warmest parts of the year.
As a summer venue, the Woodrow Wilson Bridge provides shade and overhead protection from the rain, and the nearby Potomac river wafts cool air into the park to ease the summer heat. There is a parking lot, a water fountain, and access to clean bathrooms as well.
Beyond slalom, the park offers different surfaces and inclines for building skating skills. An extended rainfall provides a soaked asphalt surface uniquely suitable for practicing sliding on skates and stops. The nearby Mount Vernon Trail and suburban streets offer practice for trail, street and distance skating.
